How to Leave a Bequest to COLA in Your Will

A bequest allows a donor to leave COLA a specific dollar amount, a percentage of his or her estate, or a conditional bequest. It is the easiest and most popular way for donors to make a future commitment.

Specific Bequests

“I bequeath $_____ to the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association, P.O. 702, Hayward, WI 54843, to support its mission. Please ensure that you name the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association with Federal Tax ID number 39-1829932 in your gifting. All gifts or bequests not designated for a specific Legacy Fund will be placed in the COLA General Fund.

Percentage Bequests

"I devise and bequeath _____% of the remainder and residue of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located, to the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association, P.O. 702, Hayward, WI 54843.

Restricted Bequests

“I give to the the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association, P.O. 702, Hayward, WI 54843, the sum of (or property herein described), to be used for _________ purposes. At any time, however, in the event the original purpose of the gift no longer exists as determined by the Board of Directors, the Board shall re-direct the proceeds of this gift to another purpose as determined by the Board.”

Contingent Bequest

"If my brother John Doe survives me, I devise and bequeath ____% of the remainder and residue of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located, to John Doe. If John Doe does not survive me, then I devise and bequeath ____% of my residuary estate, whether real or personal property and wherever located, to the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association."
